FREE JOURNALISM EDUCATION PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Welcome to the world of news based Journalism!

ANN is proud to offer members of the general public a free Journalism Education lesson series, and we encourage you to become a self-guided learner as part of our rich, professionally developed program and to qualify as an ANN Certified Content Contributor.

Being a CCC  allows you to help make ANN truly ‘your’ newspaper as well as ours.

Here you will learn core basics on how to become a competent or highly accomplished  news and feature centered journalist in keeping with the best standards and practices of ethics based journalism.

Please note that the program includes, but does not emphasize, lessons on the development of opinion or commentary pieces, as we wish to be news centric.

You may engage in this academic experience, no matter what your age or where you live, and at your own pace.  You do not need to seek ANN Certified Content Contributor (CCC)   standing  to take advantage of the program.

That said, without CCC training and program completion, you will not be included  among the membership of our volunteer  news and content providing staff.

BECOME A CERTIFIED CONTENT CONTRIBUTOR FOR ANN

For those in or around  Alameda, completing all of the lessons in the program and submitting completed course work on our Google Drive, will allow you to be qualified as a “Certified Content Contributor”  (CCC) for ANN, pending final approval from us.

As such, you become, in essence, a vested, volunteer news and/or feature reporter or content producer of photos, videos, and photo essays.

Students who achieve CCC standing may request to be designated as ANN JOURNALISM  INTERNS  etc.  (see below)

As a CCC, you will  have the prospect to go out, conceive of and cover Alameda focused  news/feature  stories on your own and submit them for publication in  ANN.

If deemed newsworthy or of substantial community interest or that which serves the public good, your content will run, along with your byline.

Once a CCC you might  be asked to cover a story that arises in the eyes of our editorial staff, and we hope that you will be willing to accept, as part of our spirit and mission  of community service to promote public awareness of newsworthy goings on in Alameda.

You do not have to seek CCC qualification simply to gain the learning experience and power of what this free education program offers.  No strings attached.

ALREADY HAVE JOURNALISM OR PR EXPERIENCE?

If you already have some kind of formal journalism training, professional experience  or substantial school or other amateur Journalism backgoound  – or  that which is closely related  (ie you have been a Public Information Officer,  Communications Outreach content producer, have formal experience in PR etc)  please provide a brief account of your qualifications and  contact us to set up an interview to see if you are already qualified to be a CCC.

STUDENT INTERNSHIPS AND MORE

Advanced, ambitious and self motivated students from 8th grade through college or University and Grad school level, may become CCC’s and attain qualification to become ANN INTERNS  for resumes, higher education applications, personal growth experience and so on.

Please note that we are not a formal accredited education institution, so we cannot offer course or unit credits.  If your school allows for independent study or other such course credits, you may wish to inquire with them if or how an ANN INTERNSHIP may serve those purposes.
