More than just recreation awaits youngsters from 6-18 years old at the Alameda Boys and Girls Club.
Life enrichment and experiences that come from being a part of the Club pay enduring dividends for young people in our community. The Club’s sustained attention to the changing needs of today’s youth enriches the quality of life enjoyed by people all over Alameda, and provides a major benefit to the entire community.
Alameda Boys & Girls Club provides a place where all youth, no matter their circumstances, can make great discoveries about themselves and engage in impactful and skill building activities. And it’s all done in a safe environment and led by positive role models and leaders.
With an intensive focus on safety, academic support and character development, ABGC helps youth find – and achieve – brighter futures, and provides the foundation for long-term, sustainable solutions for kids and their families to change the trajectory to excellence.
“I truly believe I can grow up to be anything I want due to the skills I have learned and the mentorship I have received at the Club throughout my many years here,” said Ricky, a long time ABGC member.
To achieve its core goals of Empowering Youth, Changing Lives and Building Community, ABGC offers life-changing programs and services at affordable prices that engage, inspire and empower our youth to be the best they can, and be on the path to achieve a Great Future. Some of the exciting programs we will be starting this Fall include:
- Electronic Arts Studio: Will provide opportunities for teens and middle school Club members to use esports as a platform to develop STEAM-based skills and social emotional attributes such as communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities needed to thrive in work and in life.
- Diplomas to Degrees: This college and career readiness program operates year-round to ensure that our middle and high school students receive support and resources to gain access to college and learn about future careers.
- Recording Studio: A space where youth can become familiar with basic music and recording materials, while nurturing creativity, curiosity, voice and developmental growth.
For parents, the Club offers a bounty of benefits as well.
“Having an affordable place to have my child attend after school and during summers has been life-changing for me, my family and my career. The staff have shown me what trust, reliability and care looks like in supporting our city’s youth and I am forever grateful for all that they do.” said Jane, mother of two current Club members ages 11 and 13.
